Why Does the TRIBE App Need Tracking Permissions?

Due to changes with the release of iOS v18, TRIBE creators are now required to opt-in for App Tracking Transparency. Here's what that means.

Since Apple released iOS v18, you might have seen a pop-up on TRIBE or any other apps you use. This upgrade requires ALL apps to request explicit permission from users before tracking activity and data.

This 'tracking permission' is largely related to advertising purposes, so you can receive more personalized and relevant ads.

This isn't a new requirement in the digital world. For example, you've likely encountered a website asking for your "Cookie" preferences. This type of request is simply a way to 'remember you' so you can receive tailored ads from that website in the future.

The new "Tracking permissions' requirements from Apple are similar.

What does this mean for TRIBE creators?

While the TRIBE app doesn't require tracking permissions for advertising purposes, this update now requires us to request this permission to enable you to connect your Meta (Instagram and Facebook) accounts to TRIBE.

Why connecting your account/s is a vital part of participating in TRIBE campaigns:

  • Connecting your account allows brands to measure the performance of their paid partnerships, eliminating the need for you to share ongoing data manually.

  • It helps us help you partner with brands by improving and personalizing your experience when using our app.

What happens when you select 'Allow' on the tracking request:

  • You'll be able to connect your Meta/Instagram account/s as usual.

  • You can continue working with brands on the TRIBE app.

  • It enables brands to report on and measure the performance of their campaigns, which you participate in.

  • You’ll enjoy a more personalized and seamless experience using the TRIBE app, including our ability to recommend campaigns through BrandMatchAI.

  • We'll continue to respect your privacy and keep your data secure.

What TRIBE can't do:

  • We don't have access to your passwords or personal information.

  • We cannot access or control your account/s in any way.

  • We cannot log in to your account.

  • We cannot access your devices.

What happens if you select 'Ask App Not to Track":

  • You'll still be able to view briefs, but you won't be able to connect your Instagram account and submit to Instagram campaigns.

  • We'll continue to respect your privacy and keep your data secure.

Full control is always yours, and you can change your settings at any time in your phone's settings by navigating to; Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking > Toggle on TRIBE App.
